have had 2 swarm calls now in september. wonder why, they most likely wont survive, one was about 6-7 pounds, and the other we just got tonight is at least 9 pounds...  thankfully I have a few drawn combs for them, and have a few nuc's to combine with too...
I'm new, so I don't know much, please bee nice!

I like to call them "population control swarms".  They have too many mouths to feed, or they just got fed too much... or a beekeeper let them run out of room.

Do you think they can survive winter?

That depends on the resources you have and how long it is before the first hard freeze.  If you have drawn comb to give them and capped honey to give them and some pollen frames to give them and some capped brood to give them, maybe.  Otherwise, probably not.  But what does it hurt to find out?

There is a beek  a few miles from me that I heard about was having a time with his bees.  They were swarming a good bit of the time.  I went down to talk to him and see if I could help him.  He had started feeding his bees corn syrup last winter and didn't quit.   It was June I think when I heard and he was still feeding and didn't know why they kept swarming.  I tried to explain why and told him when he did get some honey he could use my extractor.  Invited him to go with me to local bee club meetings and to check out BEEMASTERS.
