Update your profile and location. Sometimes beekeeping is about location.

Updated it! Thanks for the heads-up. I hope it makes the 2000 mile journey intact.

Welcome to Beemaster.
Bee sure to watch some of the honey bee removal videos here on this site.
Bee sure to set the vacuum suction so that it barely pulls the bees into the bee vac.
Jim

Quite difficult matters can be explained even to a slow-witted man, if only he has not already adopted a wrong opinion about them; but the simplest things cannot be made clear even to a very intelligent man if he is firmly persuaded that he already knows, and knows indubitably, the truth of the matter under consideration. -Leo Tolstoy

Could have used the vac yesterday! I did a live-removal under the floor of a shed in Rockledge, FL where the client had sprayed the entrance (wall of the shed) several days prior and then ripped up a 4' x 2' section of plywood (filled with brood comb which she threw away) before the bees went after her...and she quit. She did this, on the advice of a friend, at night.   You can see the area she ripped up in the 1st photo; in the very back.
I got the floor up (8' x 4' section of plywood) in one piece and found only honey; no brood, pollen, etc.
About 20 minutes in I saw a cluster of about 2 lbs of bees in the corner of the shed and thought "I know who is in there!" and found the queen, put her in a cage and rubber-banded her in an empty frame. I then scooped the bees into a 10-frame deep. I had brought 2 frames of drawn comb for the queen to lay in case the client had killed all the brood (which she had).  This was a real shame since they were very gentle bees.
About 3 hours into the removal the bees left en mass out of the 10 frame deep and swarmed to a nearby tree about 20' away (looking back I had left the deep too long in the shed after I had sealed the outside entrance; I was still waiting for the stragglers to march in). HUGE cloud of bees...with no queen. I moved the deep outside by the old entrance and within 2 hours almost all of them had come back. After dark I closed them up and took them back to my place. You might notice the 5 frame nuc in the background. I originally intended to use that until I realized how many bees there were: then I got the 10 frame box. Hope you enjoyed the pics!

-the hive entrance is in the back far left by the floor (you can see a bit of white expanding foam sticking out there).

Thanks! Today I gave them 3 more frames of drawn brood comb (5 total). Tomorrow I'll give them a frame of eggs/larvae/brood from another hive to "anchor" them to their new home.
