Bottle of Wild Turkey, to go with my collection of Tasmanian single malts and lots of accessories for my Weber Q BBQ.

Oh and a $50 BWS voucher from a business contact.

Ooooooh Tasmanian Single malts?

Methinks we need to discuss a whiskey swap....some small batch rare Tennessee sipping whiskey for Tasmanian Single malts?.....wonder what the postal cost would be to ship a bottle halfway around the world ;-)

Postage won't be too bad - it's the excise/duty that's the killer.

You should come over and try it yourself:

Hmmm....wonder if they would waive the excise taxes if we could convince the powers that be it was for medicinal purposes  :-)

Got a honey an wine refractometer. Nice

I must have been on the naughty list.  Didn't get the snowblower I wanted.
But I did get a bottle of Jack Daniels Kentucky Honey, with a bee motif high ball glass.
Winter is coming.

I can't say I hate the government, but I am proudly distrustful of them.

Matt,
How warm is your weather up there?
She looks like a virgin. She is walking on bees, the bees are not attending to her, her abdomen is not developed and it looks like there was a queen cell right below her.
Maybe Michael will chime in and correct me if I am wrong.
Jim
Thanks!

At the time it had been in the 60s for weeks.

I had some cells with small larvae, could that be left from an old queen? I didn't see eggs, but I'm a total newbee and didn't look for them, I was only checking honey stores.

KeyLargoBees

Matt if you saw Larvae they are somewhere between 3 and 9 days old....small Larvae probably around 5-6 days. I would say shes laying....but its hard to know much without hands on or more photos.

for "bee math" questions I refer to Michael Bushes Page.... http://www.bushfarms.com/beesmath.htm

I bought myself one of those Go Pro Hero4 silver edition cameras to take videos of things I do in a hive and such.
I played with it one day while the bees were feeding on dry feed and then edited a video.
It turned out a lot better than I thought it would.

If your expectations were low, anything would be better.  Obviously, since you spent the bucks to buy the Go Pro, your expectations were not terribly low.  So were the results so-so,  pretty good, real good, or worth the bucks?  I've wondered about a Go Pro for traveling and know someone who uses one for skiing -- fastens it to his cap, helmet or whatever and records all his downhill runs, then watches them when he's on the treadmill.  Was the resolution good enough to satisfy your needs?

I'm sure you guy's don't remember me but what I got for xmass was so unexpected and ridiculous that when I spotted this thread I just had to tell. After not having any bees for a year, I discovered a swarm on my old empty hive on xmass eve while mowing the grass (Im in Australia by the way). They have been busy building comb and the queen has been laying. Who knew Santa delivered bees

KeyLargoBees

Now that is a truly amazing gift Jedda ;-)

Everybody sure got some nice gifts! Love the mug, the queen, the tools, the swarm, all of it. lol Prayers for you and your wife John.

I got a Bradley smoker from my husband. I've already smoked some trout I had frozen and it turned out delicious! My husband's russian friend gave me my only bee related gift. He got it on a visit to the homeland. lol It's a birch bark container with little bears and bees and it says 'honey' in russian. Super cute. http://s284.photobucket.com/user/MTBeeGirl/library/Christmas%20gift?sort=3&page=1

Jim,

Sort of. I don't have all of it yet. My Wife pre-ordered the Flow Hive last April through their crowdfunding campaign when they were trying to get off the ground. I have everything for it except for the actual flow frames, which are the whole reason for the flow hive. They're making half of the parts (the cedar deeps, the supers, frames, lid, base and queen excluder) in Washington state and the frames are being manufactured in their home country of Australia. So, the flow hives are being shipped out in two separate shipments.

I have the parts for the hive and everything's assembled, i'm just waiting on the actual flow frames for the honey super. The company that makes the flow hive has had some setbacks with the frames. They'd intended to ship all of the pre-order frames by December for the pre-order buyers but now their target is to get everything shipped out by the end of January.

Mine haven't arrived just yet, but when they do arrive, i'll be happy to bring them to the very next meeting. I'm betting that will be the February meeting, or March at the latest.

Sounds good John. At least this way you can get the hive started with a swarm or cutout. Did you get the news that this months meeting is delayed one week due to MLK holiday.

Jim,

No. I didn't get the news. My PC's calendar was supposed to alert me about the meeting and last night, i'm stoking the fire in our fireplace and boop, it alerts me five minutes after the meeting was supposed to begin. I thought to myself, well, way to make an impression by no-showing....

I'm glad I didn't miss it. :) I'll try to remember next Monday.
