I pulled honey this weekend and it did not take very long before the robbing frenzy started. I had to stop it was so bad. I pulled out 3 sections of hose to reach my hives and setup 2 circular sprinklers on the hives. It stopped the robbing rather quickly but every time I turned it off and tried to pull more supers, they started right back up. I ended up waiting until the next morning to remove the 3 supers from the last hive. As soon as we started, the robbing started. I ended up just pulling th the entire super with out shaking the bees off of each frame. As soon as  pulled them, I turned the sprinklers back on to protect the bees.
It did work.

I really think keeping them locked down until noon is goign to be an issue when considering the heat.

Jim, I've pulled honey twice this year and the bees were so not interested in robbing. I couldn't believe it. They are still in and out of their hives pretty good. I still have 4 good hives to go to complete the pull.

That means that you still have a good flow on.

This is where fall harvesting is so easy up here.  You pick off the boxes put the escape on and then the boxes back on.  A day or two later you pick off the boxes in cool weather with next to no bees in them.  No robbing and no shaking of bees that creates a cloud.
