I can't seem to get anyone to answer me at Maxant. I have tried private massaging them on other forums, and calling them. To me there is little excuse for not getting back to a prospective buyer in a timely manner. There are other extractors out the that seem to be as good where you are able to talk with someone and place your order. Sure its the busy season but that should be anticipated. The only thing this does is make me go somewhere else for a extractor. I would like to buy USA but if they can't return my calls an Italian one will do.

Hello fellow Michigander. Dont worry too much about the Maxant brand. Yes they are one of the best, but I would check with Dadant here in Michigan. Might save you some money in shipping. Just a thought.

I'm a strong proponent of Maxant, but if they're not responding, Dadant also make excellent extractors in the U.S.

They are usually pretty responsive.  They are a small shop though and if there is a bee conference there many not be as many people available to keep up with things.  I spent several days once trying to get a human being at Microsoft...

I waited some time to get my maxant extractor and I will say this, it is extremely well made.  I may be a new bee keeper but I am also a former fabricator and welder so I know what good metallic made items look like. The craftsmenship on that equipment is exceptional. I would tolerate some slow turn around time for communication for it (although I am sure I would be frustrated).

Yes I have

I have called 4 times but no  answer as I need help with an expensive new uncapper I just received from them. I just receive a recording about how busy they are. I have sent 3 emails but no response. Being busy is no excuse for poor customer service. They have been in business along time and they know when their busy season is. I don't know who runs the company but they need some advice on how to treat their customers. After all they are not giving these expensive machines away. In our free enterprise system others will show up and fill the void. I have run company for over 45 years and I speak with some experience. Hopefully they will improve as they produce a nice product. I actually need some additional equipment now but am going elsewhere .

Just my two cents. I ended up with a Dadant extractor and was quite impressed! The stainless steel construction is impeccable and they use top shelf drive motors. Nice people to talk to, very helpful!  I get most of my stuff from Mann lake, also awesome people but the Dadant extractor fit my wishes, I'm not disappointed.

If you ran a company for over 45 years did you hire new people for when you were away on a convention?  What would they know?  How would that be better service?  The only thing that I could suggest for Maxant is to have the recorded message state what the hold up is and when the staff would be back to answer customer questions.  Maybe they did that.  I don't know.

The Amazon.com's have their place for getting cheap items fast but try to get technical information out of Amazon when it arrives and there is zero paperwork or instructions in the package.

I have worked for many companies and yes customer service is key but the technical people is why you keep coming back.  Nothing frost my butt more then to speak to a customer service rep who knows nothing and gives you a half a dozen I am sorry's and thank you's  ... bla, bla, bla, reading a caned message.

The answer to your question about hiring personnel while I was away at a convention is very easy to answer. Knowing my customer demand from many years of business practice, i would have hired them far in advance of the need. You are correct about poor customer service but you need a little brushing up on running a business. Training personnel takes a long time and a commitment and expenditure of  funds, and is not a matter of waiting for your busy season. Not being argumentative but just expressing my point of view based on my personal experience.

Yes it does.  That is my point exactly.  You can't replace key people that are tied up away from the shop on convention.  Lip service only goes so far and will never solve a backlog situation.  You buy from Maxant because you want quality.  They are not a Walmart.  You buy from Walmart because you want something cheap not because you are looking for quality.

Convention or not, this is the information age. They all have computers in their pocket. I work a day job that has nothing to do with bees and trying to start up my bee business this year. I have gotten over 150-200 messages and calls, while at work and home. Bottom line, you cater to your customers or they will not be your customers. Put yourself in their shoes. How do you feel if a message goes ignored for 24 hours? That's the way I do business. If they use the excuse that times are too busy, I'm sure they have lost thousands and will continue to do so.
