I have notices less activity in coming and going. I really saw it yesterday. I am not sure what they are feeding on right now because I just see nothing for them to feed on. Is this a sign of a dearth or do I need to open it up and see if something is wrong?

Use a little smoke and lift the lid. See what it looks like.

Check them at first light. Mine are coming and going then. I guess once it gets hot they start slowing down.

Ok I will tomorrow. Today it has just rained here.

Mine don't go to active fast.  At seven am it is ok.  At ten or eleven am it is gangbuster with lots of trafic.  From 5 pm on it seems to slow and the bearding starts in earnest.

If it rained and quit and is around 10 am or so and honestly most time after small rains, they really go bonkers in and out of the hive.  I have no ideal what they are going to or from to.

I did see a lull a couple of days ago for a week or two but they seem to be back in action as of a few days ago.
Good luck

Here in Arizona with 110 the normal temps right now our hives are rocking early morning and evening, but slow daytime traffic. We are in a dearth as well and somehow they are still coming home with pollen. Other than that all is well

Just checked the bees. They have actually grown  from my last inspection. They looked strong with lots of activity this morning. Perhaps I was just seeing things the other day.

I am also thinking they must have found a good nectar source as they never even landed on me or acknowledged my presence while working had it looked like. Lots were loaded with some dark yellow pollen.
