I did not think the bees would let that happen.

Eggs or larvae? I know that they sometimes put more than one egg in a cell but I thought the bees removed the extra ones.

That is a surprise. Is the hive full of bees or is it so weak that the bees are missing the doubles?
I will have to start looking for this.

Just one or two?  Don't sweat it.

If it is happening in a lot of cells then watch the brood around it.  If it all becomes drones then you might have a laying worker.

I've seen lots of cells with two larvae... for a while... then there is only one...

Jim; it is a new package about 10 days in the hive. The queen just started laying.

I have twos three and four larva in some cells.  I finally figured out my hive was getting nector and pollen bound the queen has run out of places to lay so she was laying more eggs in cells...  we staggered new frames with drawn out brood and honey frames, then added a second box with two brood frames in the middle and new frames with wax rubbed sll over the foundation.  This hive was right at the point of being honey bound.  So we had to make room.  The bees were HOT and all kinds of mad being all cramped up.  Glad we found the queen, i was scared of laying workers..
