My dad and I finally got our nucleus today. It rained a bit and few bees got squished but we are very excited to start this hobby  :cheesy:

Just to clarify about the first picture you posted, that is 8 frame nuc in a 16-frame cavity? Or that is 5 frames of bees in 16-frames?

Kendallfish, good for you.  In no time you will have your very own crystal clear super sweet honey.  That hive in the pic is beautiful wood.  First class set up it is, looks very nice.

How many wings does that honey bee on your finger have?  Just a lil test to see if you pay close attention.
I have been around bees a long time, since birth.  I am a hobbyist so my answers often reflect this fact.  I concentrate on genetics, raise my own queens by wet graft, nicot, with natural or II breeding.  I do not sell queens, I will give queens  for free but no shipping.

I just got a nuc Saturday - my commercial beek told me to leave in nuc box for 5 days then transfer to 10 frame BB.

An hour before this (5pm) they were crazy out front
Brian, I took a close up of that plastic yellow hive with the doors ALMOST opened all the way so you could see how wide it goes
And I think to myself, what a wonderful world

Salty, I adore the feet.  Be sure and smoke between the toes.  I think I am going to call you BAREFOOT.  Is that ok with you.  Kinda of a catchy name for a beek.  To my knowledge you are the one and only barefooted beekeeper.  More videos Barefoot, more videos.
Blessings

Is the hive screen bottom?  If not I think you might have issues with ventilation.  Just guessing.

Not a full exposed screen bottom-
There are air gaps in the bottom where sliding board comes out then another where pollen catcher slides out. At 5 seconds on the video you see an adjustable ventilation / escape dial and the cover has no-entry vents.
