I suppose opinions vary. How do 'you' like almond honey? (for those of you who have had it).

I don't think it makes much honey.  What little there is the bees burn it all up raising brood.  But what I've heard is it's bitter.  I've never had any.

That is what I have heard before Michael but recently I talked to a commercial beekeeper who had just got his bees back from California and not only did he get honey but he was selling it.

In 10 years we have never got enough to consider selling.
It is very bitter, like almond essence.
I doubt if it would be saleable, tastes terrible.
May be his bees found something else flowering, we have picked up a little eucalypt honey with bees flying out of the almonds to collect it.

I was thinking along these lines too.  The Xerces Society encourages almond orchard growers to plant understory forage if possible, to help supply the honey bees, and the native bees, with nectar while they work the almonds, since the almonds don't produce much.  Understory plantings also help to support contract pollination colonies if the blooms are a little late or if the bees are there a little long, and of course support native bees year round.
