We are late to the party.  Litvyak was shooting down Germans in WW2

We do have some outstanding female pilots.  I think they are the same type that would become race car drivers!

As long as they earn their way there fair and square, I'm all for it. But if they're promoted due to DEI, then I'm not. It was only a matter of time until the reality of that would show it face but that time is here.

This is one place where performance can't be hidden behind DEI.  In the mechanics of the job, women have a slight advantage with hand-eye coordination and organization.  Mentally, it requires split second evaluation and execution.  It's a pretty good playing field for women in the military because physical strength is not an issue.

You find more DEI in the Pentegon and higher ranks and most of those come out of the desk jockey fleet.  I think there are also DEI issues with command positions like ship captains, but it's kind of hard to tell given the risk-averse attitude of today's military.

Personally, I don't see anything wrong with a female flying a plane for 2 reasons.

never seen a plane with a stick shift ..

and planes aren't designed for parallel parking.

Well the older I get the more I drive like a woman then.

The helicopters I flew in had stick shift. The stick shifted the direction, not the speed.

I drove a forklift for a while and when I got in my car and wanted to go in reverse, I was continually turning on my blinker.

Any sport that relies on reflexes and hand eye coordination, the women have the edge.  Strenght and stamina, the men have the edge.
