I hope you have space for The Beverly Hillbillies because that is some good comedy.

Talking about good comedy, growing up I think I watched every Mash episode. It is back on TV again and I still watch it.

I gotta be honest, my sister and I don't really watch comedy TV that much.  We watch sitcoms once a week as a family, and that's fine, but we'd never choose a comedy over a drama if it was just us.  And we only watch light comedy movies very occasionally since I'm in charge of curating Friday night movies.  My parents watch a comedy together every Saturday, and they always watch sitcoms before bed, but it's just not my cup of tea.

You and my husband.  He will rewatch Mash forever I think  :cheesy:

Not my choice most of the time either. There are exceptions. Z Nation was outstanding and I like Sharknado movies!

M A S H definitely rates highly too. It was sad to see that series end.

The  original TV series MASH, ran longer than the Korean War itself.
My Daddy was in that war on a Destroyer. The USS Smalley. He also liked the TV series mash. I use to watch it with him from time to time.

My father was in the Air Force during the Korean War. His unit was told that they would be sent to take over the top of a hill and their job was to hold the hill in enemy territory. Everyone knew it was a suicide mission but they were being sent anyway. At the last minute it was canceled. If they had gone over there, I probably wouldn?t bee here.

I have a friend who is in my county. In fact, he is one of the top Democratic leaders. He was also heavily involved in the clvil rights negotiations in the 60s in Memphis.
It?s a miracle He is living Jim. He was also in Korea and was on one of these suicide hills or mountains. . He told me the Chinese were so thick moving toward them that it looked like the whole side of the other hill was moving. Make a long short, his group was overrun and almost every everyone in his group were killed. He was one of the few exceptions. I think he was severely wounded and they thought he was dead. Real nice fella, which I have much respect.

This is more a movie rec I guess, but the Tom Hanks movie Finch was good and got little notice. It's streaming on Apple+ I think.

Reagan,
I remember my dad talking about reports that the Chinese would send out several rows of men with nothing more than sticks and hand weapons and it wasn?t until these men?s bodies were stacked up that  the ones with guns would have to climb over the pile and attack our troops. Our machine gunners had to find something to put their tripods on to be able to shoot over the mounds of bodies. When they have more mouths to feed than they have food I guess they don?t care how many men they lose.

This evening, it's Crocodile Dundee. Another movie that I haven't seen in a long time.

I used to work with several Korean War vets.  They had those same stories of masses of Chinese coming at them until the machine gun barrels were melting and their rifles were too hot.  Terrifying and awful.

Tonight's feature was Deepwater Horizon, which is based on the disaster on the oil rig. Starring Kurt Russel and Mark Wahlberg and released in 2016. I liked it.

Kathyp

Terri, I have not watched that yet. It's been on my list for ages, but like my reading list, my watching list gets longer and longer  :cheesy:

I've never gotten around to that one either.  I'm not a big fan of Wahlberg, so that's made me choose other things over it since it was released.  Saw the trailer for it like 600 times in the theater that year though.

Wahlberg is only a co-star, Kurt Russell is in it too... Living in my cave as I do, I was totally unaware that this one was ever made until I found it whilst browsing last night. I could probably watch it again.

The15thMember

  Ok sure, but Wahlberg is clearly the lead.  I saw the trailer enough times to know that, plus he's the only guy on all the posters.  I'm not saying "no" to it, and do I like Kurt Russell, John Malkovich, and Kate Hudson.  I just have always had other priorities, and I'm still not going to bend over backwards for it.  If it gets onto Netflix, I'll probably toss it into my list, then not watch it until it's on the chopping block and about to be removed.

Local Color,  Movie on TubiTV 2006 1hr 47min. A movie about art and life.

A successful artist looks back with loving memories on the summer of his defining year, 1974. A talented but troubled 18-year-old aspiring artist befriends a brilliant elderly alcoholic painter who has turned his back on not only art but life. The two form what appears to be at first a tenuous relationship. The kid wants to learn all the secrets the master has locked away inside his head and heart. Time has not been kind to the old master. His life appears pointless to him until the kid rekindles his interest in his work and ultimately gives him the will to live. Together, they give one another a priceless gift. The kid learns to see the world through the master's eyes. And the master learns to see life through the eyes of innocence again. This story is based on a real life experience.

sorry, it's not on TV, it is streaming movie. I don't have a working TV and watch streaming only.

>We gave that a 6.5.  I did notice Harrison Ford, but I always look deep at the cast list before movies, so I knew going into it.

American Grafitti is all about nostalgia.  You're too young to feel any nostalgia about that era.
