I see, I haven't watched Batman in decades so I wouldn't have seen that.

Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy is infinitely worth your time, if you ever get the chance.  Katie Holmes is only in the first one though, she had a scheduling conflict if I remember correctly, and the Maggie Gyllenhaal was recast as Rachel for Dark Knight, which honestly is that movie's only serious flaw.  If you can only watch one Batman movie, watch Dark Knight, but I'd highly recommend making time for all three.

We are heavily partial to Zack Snyder's DC stuff as well, that would be Man of Steel, Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Snyder's cut (AND ONLY SNYDER'S CUT ) of Justice League.  Technically Watchmen is also Snyder and DC, but it's from earlier in his career and unrelated, although it's also very good.  Wonder Woman's related stand alone movie, which Snyder didn't direct himself, is good too.  All these movies are rated 10 on our "Franchise Movies" scale, except Wonder Woman, which is a 9.0, and Watchmen, which is an 8.5.

Clint Eastwood day again on GRIT. I don't think I could get tired of watching Fistful of Dollars but the next two up, I've had my fill of for now. I would like to see a Dirty Harry movie or two though. They don't get the play that the spaghetti westerns do.

New Year's Day will be a John Wayne marathon. I like John Wayne alright but I'm not so hot on watching his movies over and over again like I am with Clint.

I haven't actually watched many John Wayne movies to be honest.  In fact, now that I'm thinking about it, I think the only one I've seen start to finish is The Searchers.  I've seen bits and pieces of different ones on TV though, and I watched about the last half of Big Jake the other day.  I didn't really understand the draw with John Wayne until I read an article that explained how contemporary audiences saw him, and now I kind of get it, but he just doesn't really appeal to me very much personally.

I watched the end of the Christmas episode of Wagon Train yesterday, an episode of Gunsmoke, and the Christmas episode of Laramie, which is a show I hadn't watched before, and it seems pretty good.  I think we'll probably keep that one in our back pocket for when we're done with Rifleman or Rawhide.  I also watched about 10 minutes of the Clint Walker movie Night of the Grizzly, but my sister, who's a big Cheyenne fan, had to go do her chores, so she asked me to record it so we could finish it together later.

Today however will just be Christmas Story on repeat once we're done opening presents, which we like to do after brunch.

We watched the Six Tripple Eight last night on Netflix. Enjoyed it.

Good to know.  I'll toss that in my list.

Just watched "The Cowboys".  Great John Wayne movie.  I almost spoiled it, by telling you what is rare about it...

All the westerns with Selleck are worth watching.

I did a voice search for movies last night and   Short Circuit popped up. We ended up watching part 1 & 2 .
I watched it in the eighties and haven't even thought about it again until last night.

We finished up Dawson's Creek and now we're watching Masters of the Air on Apple TV. This show is pretty good.

Just watched Islands in the Sky (Andy Devine, James Arness, Harry Carey Jr.) and The High and the Mighty.  Both John Wayne movies that I actually had not seen before.  Then Fort Apache (another John Wayne which I had seen before).  Henry Fonda, John Wayne, Shirley Temple.  Watched both the Midways.  The old one (1976, Charlton Heston, Henry Fonda, James Coburn, Glenn Ford, Hal Holbrook, Toshiro Mifune, Robert Mitchum, Cliff Robertson, Robert Wagner, Edward Albert, Dabney Coleman, Erik Estrada, Tom Selleck, Steve Kanaly, Pat Morita) and the new one (2019, Ed Skrein, Patrick Wilson, Luke Evans, Aaron Eckhart, Nick Jonas, Darren Criss, Keean Johnson, Mandy Moore, Dennis Quaid, Woody Harrelson).  I had seen them both before but it had been a long time since the old one. I probably watched it last in '76.

Masters of the Air was a short series (I think 8 episodes but I'm not sure) that I thoroughly enjoyed. It was based on America's bombers and bombing crews during WW II in Europe.

Now I'm watching a show on WW I, both it and WW II were brutal, I don't know how the men withstood it all.

I was thinking about doing that myself, but I ran out of time on the old one, as it will be leaving Netflix in a few days.  How was the new one?

We watched The Birds late last night.  Doesn't age well at all, but it was fun to make fun of.

Old yeller is free on utube right now, give that a try, it is better then the birds in my humble opinion.

The Birds was big when I was a yute. 'Special effects' from those days are funny.

I saw Old Yeller when I was really little, but haven't watched it since.  I remember liking it.

Oh yeah.  The overacting was funny too, along with people's ridiculous scary-moving decision making.  It was also funny how in a lot of sequences with real birds, they are supposedly all sitting there looking menacing, but if you have any experience with birds, you can tell that they are just completely relaxed.  Like towards the end, the guy is sneaking out of his house to get to the car, trying not to disturb the hundreds of birds that are on his lawn, because they are supposedly watching his every move and waiting for him to make the wrong one, and one of the ravens is dust-bathing in the pathway.   Yeah, real scary.

If you liked Old Yeller you and your family might enjoy >where the red fern grows< . .
Most likely y'all have already seen it.

I read that book aloud to my family probably 15 years ago, and everyone except for me was so mad about the ending that I doubt that suggestion would go over well.
