How far should a widbreak of three feet tall  bee away from the hives? I've read somewhere that if too close the wind will chill the hive instead of keeping it from being too cool for the bees. HELP!!!! Thanks. Pembroke

I've never put one up, myself.  But a snow fence will CAUSE drifting directly on the other side of it and that will taper off no NO drifting about 30 or 40 feet on the other side of it.  Personally, I live where it blows 60 mph sometimes and it NEVER stops blowing, gets down to -40 rarely but -10 to -20 most every winter for a couple of weeks and I've NEVER put up a wind break.  I don't think you need one in KY.
