I dump her in a jar of alcohol for swarm lure.  I have a jar full of them.

Michael, OK you must elaborate on this swarm lure.  Is it somewhere on your website (I am too lazy and not enough time to look it up)?  Do you freeze the concoction?  Drain off the fluid and use drained liquid.  You can't keep me in the dark about this, share the information.  Great day.  Cindi

I think that is one of the hardest things that I have ever done in the beeyard was to kill a couple of queens.  Broke my heart, but I am getting tougher about my thoughts on how to handle bees and not be such a woosey.  Cindi

No.

No.

Yes.

Just dump the queens to be dispatched into the jar of alcohol (and old queens).  When you need swarm lure use a few drops of this in the bait hive.  A few drops of lemongrass oil in addition will help.

OK Michael, so I feel like I am playing 20 questions, but I am on a quest for knowledge and I must ask.

How long does the alcohol preserve the queen tissue?  Please elaborate.

I think this was discussed in a prior post, but the queen fluid should be placed on the frame top bars?  Entrance board?  Where is most appropriate spot?

I will obtain oil of lemongrass, I get the impression that it is "powerful medicine".  I will be propogating my own lemongrass one day to make essential oil.

Great day. Cindi

Forever.  But that's irelevant.

>Please elaborate.

It's the QMP pheromones you want and those dissolve in the alcohol.

>I think this was discussed in a prior post, but the queen fluid should be placed on the frame top bars?  Entrance board?  Where is most appropriate spot?

That depends on your bait hive.  If it had frames in it I would put a few drops in the middle of the middle frame's top bar.  Any spot will do.  I just want it to soak into the wood so it lasts a while.

>I will obtain oil of lemongrass, I get the impression that it is "powerful medicine".

It's the best swarm lure I've seen.

>  I will be propogating my own lemongrass one day to make essential oil.

That will work too.  But it's not like it's expensive to buy a lifetime supply of the oil.

Michael, thank you.  My cousin is into homeopathy, so she can obtain high quality essential oils at a lower cost than I can at any retail outlet and the quality is supreme.  I will obtain the lemongrass essential from her.  She is an interesting woman and practices in a very tiny scale an alternative medicine called something like "bio-feedback".  Interesting stuff.  Great day.  Cindi
