I was wondering and tried looking it up in past post, but didnt see anything.  I was wondering my neighbor has trugreen come and do his lawn throughout the year, now between my yard and his is a 6ft privacy fence, will this be an issue or what do you recommend me doing when they spray.   :?

I don't know who or what trugreen is, but what is it they spray? What ever it is they should reassure it doesn't drift into your yard bees or no bees.

I beleive it is actually chem-lawn,If they are their all the time there wouldn't be much for the bees to forage on but  you could ask them to notify you ahead of time so you could screen the entrance to the hive closed the previous evening and let the bees in until the chemicals are dry.
If you have your hives registered they are supposed to notify you I think!

i appolize it is chem-lawn, or trugreen same company anyway they spray to kill weeds, fetilize, grub control etc

usually this kind of sprays shouldn't effect the bess IF they are used properly, that is in the evening. if they use it on a regular basis it should be just ok, since the weeds don't have the time to develope flowers-dandolions

well, it's just my opinion, becasue, if there are no flowers, it really shouldn't effect your bees. i persume the spray is added directly to the lawn very low so it doesn't go into the air. bees usually suffer from IMproper use of pesticides, that should be your biggest concerne.

I worked for ChemLawn for several summers while I went to school.

Yes.. they have lawn service.. but they also have tree & shrub service too.  Besides the fertilizers..  they spray a variety of chemicals to kill all kinds of bugs.. in the lawn.. trees.. shrubs..  blooming or not.. it get's sprayed.  We had high-pressured tree-guns to reach those 90ft trees..  hundreds of gallons.. in a matter of minutes.

They are now required to post signs several days before spraying..  you could also asked your neighbor for the ChemLawn phone #.. to talk to them about what type of treatment they will apply..  different chemicals for diff. seasons.  Let them know you have bees..  you may want to restrict your bee's in the hive for a timeframe.  Sevin is widely used to kill Jap. Beetle in housing developments.. this would include Purple Plum trees & a wide variety of fruit trees as well.

This is how bad the chemicals are..  we were required to take blood tests once a month to show our(human) resistance to the chemicals..  if the blood tests showed an accumulation(ppm) in your blood..  they had to fire you.  Basically it showed if the chemicals where killing you.
