A tale of 2 hives...

This is my "outyard", about a half hour North of my home Apiary.
I hived these 2 packages on the same day, both from the same supplier, on May 2 2006.
I have not seen these bees since November. It is amazing to see how one package can be so much stronger than the other. I did not need to feed these bees going into winter. I even left a partial super on one, just in case. The other did not produce a surplus, but did pack away about 60 lbs in the deep.
I did not treat these bees with anything. I think a good mated Queen, makes all the difference in the world.  :shock:

Those are some good pic's, The hive in the second pic looks strong.
