I feel like I hit the lottery :-D
This will be my first year beekeeping.
I have been preparing for 2 nuks to be ready for instalation in my hives. There has been a bit of delay due to cold windy weather, my local beekeeper I ordered the bees from has been behind. A bit of a disapointment for me, but I figured, well I am sure I will have pleanty of time to work with the bees....
Last night I went to show my other beekeeper friend the hives, actually, went over to ask about the ventilation holes on 2 of the deep supers...and low and behold.....bees coming and going out of one of the holes!
We opened up the super and man did I have bees. We pulled some of the frames and found the queen. Man am I excited! Seems the robbers I had cleaning the old honey early this spring remembered the hive and came back with thier queen.
I had been gone a few days last week, I wish I had been there to watch the swarm marching in that little hole.
I just thought I would share with you all, I'll open 'er up in a week or so and hope she is laying.

Holy crow!  I'm jealous!!!  I left my empty hive outside for a week and all I got were ear wigs!

Serendipity is always a pleasant surprize.  That's why a lot of beekeepers have an extra empty hive in their beeyard.  I a swarm from one of their own hives doesn't fill it someones else's might.
Life is a school.  What have you learned?   :brian:      The greatest danger to our society is apathy, vote in every election!
