I think the first batch of eggs must have come to maturity in the past few days.  Talk about a population explosion.  It's quite amazing.  Yesterday afternoon and this afternoon, I sat out there and watched hundreds upon hundreds of the little guys (girls, I know) coming and going.  Plus, the poplar's just popped.  Next up. . . berries. :-D  God, I love spring!!!!

Awesome!  On what date did you install your bees?  By my calculations/Observations, I should have new born bees on the 18th.  So I'll take a guess and say you installed around April 14th?

March 31st, but there was that unfortunate incident with my first queen dying.  Still. . . I'm really psyched.  Sadly, I won't be able to check out what's happening inside until this weekend.  Working just sucks.

Great news..  Funny about your blooms, the poplar here has not opened, but the berries have just started in the last 2 days. I watched as a butterfly worked one of them.  I calculate that my first hive should have new bees any time now. Since every other bee in the hive is over 21 days, I assume that many will be released to forage soon.

tulip poplar has been blooming here for about 12 days, wish it would last longer, I have heard a hive can collect about 40 pounds of honey off of one big tree, I heard this dont know it for a fact but my hives have been working hard and loading supers the last 2 weeks.
