Wow!  I got my 8-frame medium hive stuff from Betterbee yesterday and immediately put two boxes together - what a difference.  The size difference is so marked that it feels like I'm picking up a toy beehive.

Amazing!

My only complaint is that the box joint from Betterbee isn't cut as well as the box joint from Dadant.  I had to use a rubber mallet to get the corners together before screwing it all together.

I can't wait to use these medium 8-frame boxes.  I expect I'm going to regret every other 10-frame box I own!

I love my eight frame mediums.... I wish I'd started out that way.

A smart beekeeper uses nothing but 8 frame mediums.  I'm not smart but I figured that out.

I can see that I will be on your website, Michael, to see how to cut the bigger boxes down.  I have a friend who might do that for me.

Due to Michale Bush and Brian Bray, I'm a 8 framer as well.  Just not all mediums, for I like a single deep on 4 way pallets.

After rec my 8 frame shallows from Brushy...I think I might like to try my hand at making my own stuff...who has the best 8 frame hive plans?  ( It cost me $30 s&h for 4 unassembled shallow supers...hhhmmm )...

Robo

Why not just copy the ones you got from brushy?   That way they will all be the same.  From what I understand, there isn't a 8-frame standard.

I am an 8 framer too......its really too bad that Dadant doesn't carry any because Rob Mountian is so close to me and it would be handy picking stuff up there. For plans you can use the reg 10 flame plans; the only differance is that the front and backs are 13 7/8th".

Thanks Bluegrass I was wondering what the difference was...I wish Dadant would carry them as well...no dice...

Ross

Dadant can get them if they don't have them in stock.  Western, Dadant's supplier, has them.
