On one of my hives the bees are coming home with this whitish stuff on their backs.  Not all of them have it and none of the other hives do.  Could it just be the color pollen they're getting into?  The pollen they're bringing home is both orangey and a lighter color.

they could be gathering nectar from plants that have inferior pollen but of white colour.
just can't imagine anything else than pollen. let's see what others have to say.

I had mine come in one time solid yellow. Some flowers have so much pollen, the bees will get covered alllll overrr.

They going through a carwash and getting hot waxed but not shined?
Everyone said it couldn't be done. But he with a chuckle replied, "I won't be one to say it is so, until I give it a try."  So he buckled right in with a trace of a grin.  If he had a worry he hid it and he started to sing as he tackled that thing that couldn't be done, and he did it.  (unknown)
