My schmart TV has a Tubi app on it and I'll look for Local Color on it.

Last night it was Hogan's Heroes S1E1. Back in my yute, HH was must see TV but it doesn't move me much any more. But I wanted to see what the first episode was like so I watched it. Other than it being in black and white and E2 in color, it didn't break the show out as a series opener. Not anything like The Beverly Hillbillies does. Then it was The Voice. When I first heard of it, I didn't think much of the idea of the show but after watching it, it has grown on me. Through all of the talent shows like it, there are some very talented people out there who are now getting to have themselves seen. The competition is very stiff and some good talent gets sent home. I remember when Ed McMahon had his talent show but I forget what it was called. I used to watch that one too.

American Grafitti is all about nostalgia.  You're too young to feel any nostalgia about that era.
 Yeah, no kidding.  Even my parents are too young.  And as a homeschooler, I'm doubly at a disadvantage for these types of movies, regardless of the era they are set in, because all that social nonsense is just that to me, nonsense.  The only aspect about it that lands semi-correctly for me is that I grew up watching Happy Days, so it made me feel nostalgic for that.  But without the Fonz, I'm not sure what the draw is.

I didn't watch either of those shows so I'm out.

I didn?t either. .  Quality TV choices seem to be slim pickings these days in spite of the many channels offered.  🤷🏻‍♂️

The Fonz was a cool cat.  Winkler was a good actor for that part.

Henry Winkler ran a very short-lived and not so well known showed named 'Better Late Than Never', which starred William Shatner, George Foreman, and Terry Bradshaw. It ran for two seasons but only the first season is worth watching, if you can find it. They travelled around Asia and ate all kinds of strange foods and visited interesting sites. Shatner and Bradshaw made me laugh the whole time. It looks like it's on Apple TV and/or Hulu.

Agreed there.  I never got the social stuff and I wasn't home schooled, though I wish I had been...

I think I remember seeing commercials for that when it was airing.

Tonight's feature was Return of the Fly, followed by Chicago Med and Chicago Fire. Return of the Fly was released in 1959 starring Vincent Price. The 'special effects' of those movies from those days cracks me up.

I have heard of the movie but never saw it, I'll have to see if I can hunt it down. Sally Fields was the love of my life once upon a time.

With my new iPhone came three months of free Apple TV. I had a stretch of it before when I bought my iPad and watched See and Ted Lasso. See had one more season after I last had it so we watched that and now we're watching Ted Lasso.

See is oddly entertaining to me with its bizarre premise. Blind people traversing the earth and fighting each other is a ridiculous notion so I don't know why I liked it. And Ted Lasso is some pretty funny stuff. I just wish I could understand that British accent a little better. Between it and my aging ears, it's tough to comprehend at times. And sadly, it's not family friendly so some people shouldn't be watching it.

I'll be watching the return of Yellowstone tonight.

Slow Horses on Apple TV is good. If the Brit accent is hard to hear, put the CC on. I watch everything with it on anyway.

When I started it I didn't think I was liking it, but it stuck in my head and now I have watched all the available seasons.

My dad and I finished watching the current season of Deadliest Catch yesterday.  I thought it was another really good season.  About 5 years ago we were getting fed up with how fake the show was at times, but they really turned things around, and I hope the show gets renewed for another season.  I'm a little concerned, since this was only a half order season, plus the finale clearly was constructed so it could function well if that was the final episode, but Discovery is always extremely late in announcing renewals, so we'll see.  If it is renewed, it will beat out Gunsmoke (in seasons, not episodes), which is quite a feat.  The production quality this season was just so high, the score was incredible, and the camera work gets better every year.  The use of drones gave some amazing gyroscopic shots of the boats in the weather; I felt like I finally understood the size of the waves this season after watching the show for like 15 years.  My only complaint this season was that I just don't like Captain Rick Shelford.  I can't get over the fact that Sean Dwyer refused to fish with him due to safety and efficiency concerns when he was new to the show, and I feel like the whole situation with Jacob on that boat seems suspiciously inorganic.  Oh, and Monte's handling of Keith's stroke and Jake's handling of a potential neck injury the following week frustrated me.  I don't know why every captain isn't an EMT like Casey on the Cornelia is.  But Jake's fishing that last string backwards was insane, and Sig and Clark navigating back to Dutch with no modern instruments except a radar was so impressive.

Nice summary, Reagan. I can't even remember all that stuff, if I noticed it to begin with. Injuries at sea have to be tough to decide on. There's a whole heap of money to go in for an ill or injured person so they try to stay out. I expect one of those on board to be a designated EMT but yeah, maybe not. One of Sig's long time hands has sued him for not taking him back in, which resulted in further damage, I forget what it was but the hand was Nick, Jake Anderson's uncle. The couple of years that red kings were either moratoriumed or limited catches were a little slow for the show.

Cornelia Marie has a couple of skeletons in her closet and the last I heard, it was docked and deteriorating.

That's true, but there was no opies this year, and it wasn't a problem.  Maybe they did the half-season order because of lack of material, not because of waning interest in the show.  If so, it was a good move.

I'm not super surprised about that.  I honestly felt like Josh never really was going to be able to take the reins of that operation.  When Casey was hired, the show acted like he was meant to be a set of training wheels for Josh, to give him the instruction that Phil hadn't really given him.  But I never saw Josh attempt to lead for himself, Casey always took charge in a crisis or when things were difficult, and as much as Josh would say things like he was proud that he was continuing his father's legacy, I never saw him really commit to stepping into his father's shoes.

Woo hoo! Deadliest Catch might be done for the season but Gold Rush is back on.

Watching Ted Lasso whilst I still have free Apple TV but I like variety so I stopped in on the Dawson's Creek channel to see what that show was about. Coincidentally, it happened to be the pilot show for the series so we didn't feel like we had to figure anything out. Anyhow, we like it so are watching it. I also discovered that we are able to stream the series so we can start at the beginning and work our way through it chronologically. Katie Holmes stars in it and it's the first time I ever saw her in anything. Other than I think she was married to Tom Cruise, I wouldn't have heard of her.

I'm most familiar with her as Rachel from Batman Begins.
